Nabi Family Therapy

Our story

Where healing begins for the whole family

Like the butterfly that emerges stronger and more beautiful, every family has the potential for healing, growth, and deeper connection.

Overview

What to expect

Our story begins with a simple yet profound belief: every family deserves to feel like they belong, to each other and to themselves.

Nabi Family Therapy was born from the vision and expertise of our co-directors, Linda Yoon and Soo Jin Lee, who also co-run our sister practice, Yellow Chair Collective (YCC). Having witnessed firsthand the unique challenges that families face, Linda and Soo Jin recognized the need for a specialized approach that honors the complexity of family systems while embracing cultural identity and intergenerational healing.

The name Nabi comes from the Korean word for butterfly, symbolizing healing, hope, and the delicate yet powerful process of change.

Our journey

Our journey to now

Through our work at Yellow Chair Collective, we witnessed the profound impact of culturally responsive, trauma-informed therapy. But we also saw that healing doesn't happen in isolation. When one person heals, it affects their partner, their children, their parents, and their entire family system.

This realization led us to expand our vision beyond individual therapy. We began developing specialized programs for families, recognizing the deep interconnection between every member's wellbeing.

Our mission

A safe, culturally responsive space where families heal together

Our mission is to create a place where families can heal together, break generational cycles, and build deeper connections that last a lifetime.

Whole-family healing

Families are interconnected systems. When we support one member, we strengthen the whole.

Cultural responsiveness

Every family's story is shaped by culture, immigration, and intergenerational narratives.

Trauma-informed care

Many challenges stem from unprocessed trauma. We address these wounds while building hope.

Strengths-based

Every family carries inherent wisdom. We build upon existing resources and capabilities.

Belonging as foundation

True healing happens when family members feel they truly belong, within and beyond the family.

Our process

Our process & approach to helping families

Creating safety first

Before meaningful change happens, family members need to feel safe, emotionally, psychologically, and culturally.

Understanding your story

We take time to understand cultural background, generational patterns, current struggles, and hopes.

Identifying patterns

We explore communication styles, roles, boundaries, and how past experiences influence the present.

Building new skills

Practical tools to communicate, manage emotions, resolve conflicts, and strengthen bonds.

Supporting individuals

Each member needs individual support while remaining connected to the family.

Creating lasting change

Integrating new patterns into daily life so positive change continues after therapy ends.

Celebrating growth

Like the butterfly emerging, we celebrate each family's unique restorative journey.

Your family's healing story begins here.

Like the butterfly, you have everything you need within you to emerge stronger, more connected, and more beautiful than ever before.
